Formed following a five-year hiatus from writing and recording in previous projects, the band started piecing together their debut release in mid-2019, experimenting with sounds and styles through a collection of demos that would eventually become this collection of fully-fledged songs.
"We pushed ourselves to go wide and I think this shows sonically – there’s a lot of energy and expansiveness across the five tracks," says frontman Nick Stillman. "Recording them was probably the most gratifying experience we’ve had as musicians. We hope you get lost in them like we did.”
Strapping you in for a magnetic five-track experience, PEEL lead an expedition through realms of shoegaze, post-punk and psychedelia, exuding influences ranging from 80s noise pop and 90s Madchester to ambient minimalism and modern psych rock. In the end, what you get is PEEL’s own brand of timeless shoegaze that spins these multifarious influences through their own web of songwriting and storytelling prowess, with layers of noise and texture.
