Nao
Nao has welcomed new album And Then Life Was Beautiful. It's been quite the journey for the East London singer, songwriter and producer; after some time as a session singer and music teacher in her late teens and early twenties, Nao started writing her own music in 2014 and picked up multiple accolades since then including the Mercury Prize & Grammy Nominations for her 2018 album 'Saturn'.
Nao has also been busy as a songwriter and producer and collaborated with Mura Masa, Disclosure, Ariana Grande, Stormzy, Nile Rodgers to name a (prestigious) few.
And Then Life is Beautiful sees Nao returning to organic sounds and lightweight electronic production making for an intimate listening with lyrics touching on the musings of modern love and its up and downs. 'Messy Love' and 'Glad That You’re Gone' nod to 90's neo-soul and hip-hop whilst 'Antidote' featuring Nigerian singer Adekunle Gold takes the listener in afrobeats territories. Ballad 'Wait' touches on emotional maturity and understanding, relationships and love have always been the thread in Nao's lyrics though on this 3rd album it's dealt with sharpened confidence. And Then Life Was Beautiful expands Nao's musical range while deepening its emotional impact.
