Fusilier

Fusilier

artist

Fusilier is a punk-funk-R&B oddball from Atlanta, Georgia who’s carving out his own lane. Multi-talented & whip smart (he’s a literal neurobiologist by education), Blake Fusilier is an amalgam: singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist & producer and a quintessential je ne sais quois. That means when you hear a Fusilier song, you’re hearing myriad incarnations of his vision at once. In defining himself—Black, punk-rock, queer, funk, pop; Fusilier invites listeners to reimagine who they think themselves to be.

He was named OkayAfrica’s Indie Artist You Need to Listen To and has received acclaim from the likes of BBC 6 Music, Afropunk, Noisey, Stereogum, The Creative Independent and many others. After making his live debut at NYC’s BAM Cafe in 2017, he found himself back at BAM for Brooklyn’s inaugural Slayfest where he rebel-roused for NY locals. In a short time, Fusilier has found himself appearing at the stunning National Sawdust in Williamsburg, C’mon Everybody, Baby’s All Right, Wavelength Music Festival, CAM St Louis’s Dada Ball & Bash and various music & culture staples in and outside of NYC - mainstream to Brooklyn basements.

The outré genre-bender’s influences include James Brown, Fela Kuti and Nine Inch Nails, which you clearly glean on earliest releases “Make You” and “The Moment;” however, a still-soulful but softer rock side comes out on songs like “The Shot” whose video premiered via Dazed. In 2018, Fusilier released his first EP “DUTY” followed up by his remix EP “YTUDES” (Brassland) which features ‘The Moment (Perera Elsewhere remix)’.
