Backyard are today delivering a set of honest and honey-like tunes, packaged up in their a quaint self-titled debut EP for your listening pleasure. With lead single ‘Reality Television’ and current tune ‘Royal Park’ featured on the release, the EP offers up another serving of pure and refreshing Australiana pop.

The Melbourne quartet will also continue their tour with Fountaineer this month, followed by a local headline show at The Pinnacle Hotel in Melbourne.

Talking about the EP, Backyard list an eclectic list of influences, including, "Hurstbridge granny flats, the chord progression on Flyin' Shoes, Bernese Mountain dogs named Zoe, Purple Wayne, the sound of Nick Drake's acoustic, Anticol Lozenges, Dan Horne's plate reverb, whoever plays drums on Arthur Russell's I Couldn't Say It To Your Face, driving the Hume Highway on your own, the guitar interplay on The Stevens records and the type of heat that has you wearing shorts when you don't wanna."

Comprised of Adnan Kadric (Vocals / Guitar), Thomas Barlow (Drums), Joe Daly (Bass), and Leon Andrews (Guitar / Vocals), Backyard have a penchant for creating understated tunes about life in Melbourne’s western suburbs and country Victoria. These themes have stemmed from the beauty Adnan found in Melbourne’s Western Suburbs, having found refuge there after fleeing Bosnia with his family in the early 90s.

Their previous singles ‘Best View of Dean St’ and ‘Young and Old’ earned world-wide radio and blog attention, and saw their 7-inch single launch for the former attract a packed-out crowd at Melbourne’s Workers Club. Falling somewhere between Paul Kelly and Real Estate, yet maintaining a certain “scruffy” quality unique only to them, Backyard are now gearing up to grace listeners with even more of their charming suburban pop.
