A self-taught guitarist Saxon picked up the guitar by sneaking a Maton 325 from his younger brother’s room when he wasn’t home. He would sit for hours on one chord. Almost meditative, Saxon’s organic absorption of the music has given him an easy dexterity. Years later, the nervous emerging player sat in on open mic nights and despite the nerves ploughed through into a network of relationships with other working musicians in his home town.
He quotes Cat Stevens and Tommy Emmanuel as major early influences in his style of playing and songwriting. He also listened to Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin and loves reggae.
