Dappled Cities

Dappled Cities

artist

Having played together since their early teenage years, Dappled Cities are now happy to accept their title as emerging statesmen of Australian indie rock.

Since their first single hit high rotation on national broadcaster Triple J in 2002, Dappled Cities have continuously put out critically praised and personally adored records, toured the world as a blisteringly loud and wild five piece and pushed the boundaries of their music with every release. Alongside a slew of EPs and single releases, their records A Smile (2004), Granddance (2007), Zounds (2009) and Lake Air (2012) placed the band firmly in the spotlight of the Australian music scene, receiving high rotation, radio albums of the week status, and ARIA nominations.

From anarchic lives shows at local venues, to tours on the Big Day Out, Laneway, Falls and Splendour in the Grass and international supports with the likes of LCD Soundsystem, Modest Mouse and Silverchair, Dappled Cities have proven their capacity to support each release with a gruelling schedule of touring. Glowing reviews from tastemakers Pitchfork and Stereogum, alongside thrilling performances at South By South West Texas and CMJ music festivals, saw Dappled Cities gain acclaim in America, Asia and Europe, with multiple tours to these regions matching their own local touring. Most recently, Dappled Cities worked with members of the Australian Brandenburg Orchestra for the Sydney Festival, combining Baroque instrumentation with synthesisers and guitars for a one-off extravaganza at Sydney Town Hall, an event truly to be remembered.
